HAVING BELATEDLY endeared himself to the Christian right, Mitt Romney may have looked like an ideal candidate to be John McCain's Vice President.
Not so.
Firstly, I imagine that the RNC are relieved that Romney never received the nomination. Why?
I think that events in Texas with the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints mean that Romney's chances of being VP are over. Now although Romney doesn't belong to FLDS, these events have clearly set back his attempts to 'humanise' his religion. With the bulk of Americans believing that Mormonism is a cult, surely these events will entrench the stigma of having a Mormon candidate?
I guess time will tell, but Romney is surely no longer a viable running mate.

Just in case you didn't know, you are truly and idiot.
Excellent point. Good job he missed out.
Cindi, do you actually have anything to contribute?
All the events with the FLDS in the last two years stinks of conspiracy. No one in law enforcement in Utah and Arizona can explain how Warren Jeffs was put on the FBI 10 Most Wanted list. Both Attorney Generals have tried to dodge stirring up a hornets nest like the 1953 Arizona raid on Shortcreek. It is like the Wizard of OZ. Someone pulled additional strings to add up to $100,000 of reward money for Jeffs capture in increments and timing to coincide with the presidential election. Jeffs was held for about 16 months in solitary confinement in Purgatory Jail before he could face his accuser. Arizona had 61 complaints like the Texas complaint and found 50 of them bogus with no victim to be found. The Texas sheriff fell for it on the third nibble, just in time to coincide with the rumor of Mitt Romney becoming a VP candidate. The Texas sheriff has a snitch advising him of what to do, but I would lay a big bet that she and all the other string pullers are connected to the Democratic National Committee. All this trouble is not about what you think it is. Yes, there are bad characters, but there is someone else pulling strings to achieve a different end. There are agitators at work and driving the agenda. There are too many unexplained events to be accidental.
So, what if Mitt becomes Attorney General instead of VP. Wouldn't that give the FLDS conspirators something to worry about? Conspiracy to disrupt a Federal election?
No, the "majority of Americans" do not think Mormonism is a "cult", but the majority of Americans are finding out that the vicious anti-Mormon garbage coming from some who claim to be "Christian" is very un-Christian. Many on the right and on the left as well, are guilty of this. Frankly I am sick and tired of people trashing a church which is very dear to me and to many millions of others. Don't they have anything better to do than to tear down the beliefs of others, thinking that they know more about the religion than those who've been living it and practicing it their whole lives?
If you're putting me into the group of people "trashing" your religion you'll be disappointed to know that I've done no so thing.
However, polls regularly indicate that the bulk of Americans do associate Mormonism with a cult.

Evan, of course you are a bigot or what is worse, an idiot, promoting the misrepresentation of Mormonism as a cult. It just might be possible that a majority of Americans are not sufficiently knowledgeable to know what Mormonism is.
Would you please point out where I 'promote' the belief that Mormonism is a cult?
People may well have a poor understanding of Mormonism, but if that's all they have to go on, that's how they'll vote.
I resent being called a bigot. Surely on that premise if you claim that Rev Wright's comments will hurt Obama you're a racist?!
News flash... Mitt Romney does not belong to the same church as the polygamists. Although you may have a point that the erroneous it affects Romney. You libel the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by making it equivalent with that sect. Realism works if you post the whole truth.

Yes, Ben as I've repeated. Your second point sums up my entire post on the subject. I've never claimed that he belongs to the FLDS or ever has belonged to the FLDS. However, my point is that people will attempt to make the tenuous links that would destroy a campaign. To therefore claim that I've libeled the church shows a poor understanding of the law.
I'm talking about politics here. Even if a candidate has no linkage whatsoever with another organisation, the opposition will exploit existing bias to make the candidate unelectable.
This has nothing to do with me questioning the Mormon faith. None. The quicker you all get over that the better.
