Israel's 60th

I THOUGHT it was interesting to see the BBC's coverage of Israel's 60th anniversary.

Despite me taking very little interest in the Middle East, the fact that Israel has existed for 60 years is a momentous occasion for millions of British citizens, and something that I believe should be celebrated. Hence my confusion at the BBC's coverage.

Perhaps I've missed a story, but in the last couple of days I've read absolutely nothing on the BBC's website about the celebrations, only the "catastrophe".

Obviously this is an extremely divisive issue, especially in Britain. However, I am somewhat disappointed with the BBC. I expect that in ten years time they will have positive articles about Kosovo's declaration of independence, so why not Israel?

Tip-toeing around the issue doesn't help anyone.
