WHY ON earth would Nick Clegg reveal that he would back a Conservative administration in the event of a hung Parliament?
Seriously.
Perhaps the Liberal Democrats need to be taught a thing or two about negotiations? With an outright Conservative majority looking increasingly likely, I find it astonishing that Clegg would make this statement. Although this has been known for a while amongst the chattering classes, I think this is a poor calculation from Clegg and could seriously damage his hand in the event of a hung Parliament.
It also raises questions about the Liberal Democrats and floating voters. Why would a floating voter back the Liberals if their leader has already pledged to surrender to the Tories in the event of a hung Parliament?
Perhaps Clegg and Danny Alexander have something else in mind, but I always thought in these instances, one should keep their cards close to their chest.

You'll notice that Nick Clegg doesn't actually make any 'statement' in that article. It is based on hear say and rumour rather than anything he actually said. He has been very careful in all his public statements to make clear that the policy of the lib dems is equidistance. It is just inevitable that Tory papers will try and undermine the lib dems by printing stories like this
'Anonymous' - You're absolutely spot on.
However, the reason I chose to post this was because of this article on Lib Dem voice.

As I mentioned, the bulk of the chatter at Westminster is that Clegg would back a Conservative - rather than Labour - government. Your mates on Lib Dem Voice appear to think it's a fantastic idea - 'triangulation'. I'm merely stating that this is stupid, and unless Clegg nips this in the bud, you'll get a lot of voters who will desert the party.
You assume that a lib dem voter has a logical thought out reason for why he or she is voting lib dem in the first place. Frequently they have not.
Besides - have you seen a lib dem conference? All jumpers, bears and sandles. And the men are worse (bu-boom tsh).
Most lib dems are with the party now because Nick has bagged 30 chicks and they are hoping that they may get some cast off mojo.
What they dont realise is that Nick was a card carrying Tory when he knocked off most of that total!!
